DESCRIPTION
People with disabilities can and wants to be productive members of the community. Promoting more inclusive societies and job opportunities for people with disabilities requires better access to basic education, professional training tailored to market needs and jobs suitable to their abilities and interests. Non-discriminatory nations recognize the need to remove all barriers – not just physical – and make the environment more accessible by providing information in a variety of formats to change misconduct and stigma addressed to disable people.
Thanks to the work of a professional drama therapist, will be finalizing the production of a theatre/circus show of about 35 minutes where the actors will be the disabled youth from of the Kireka Institute. The research will be oriented mainly on the expressive quality as “food” for the group and the audience, trying to transform the deficit into something that is freed in all its strength and uniqueness. An “intimate journey” that refines the characters, making them free and more expressive using music, gestures, touches, objects, bodies and voices.
In order to raise the volume against the disability-related stigma the CIRCONDIAMOCI! production will be premiered at the National Cultural Centre and the related tour performed in 4 secondary schools managed by the Kampala Municipality. Other visibility actions include the distribution of printouts during the performances and communication activities directly to the media with the aim to mobilize also the “digital world” and create a tidal wave of joy full of smiles and revelations.
